Summary:                    Display of numeric strings
Description: 
I entered bug ID #58 yesterday containing a string consisting of the
characters
        <(> <i> <t> <e> <m> <space> <#> <6> <)>
in the Description field.  When viewing that bug, the string is
displayed as the characters
        <(> <i> <t> <e> <m> <space> <0> <0> <0> <0> <0> <0> <6> <)>
with the digits displayed in blue and acting as a link to bug ID
number six.

While it is nice to have links when bug IDs are inserted in the text,
I was surprised to see the transformation when I was referring to an
item in a list.  The original text is still in the bug (as can be
seen if you try to edit the field); it is just the way that Mantis
displays the string.

Desired Action: 
Explain what strings trigger this reformatting by Mantis and if
there is any way when entering text to avoid the transformation.

Also specify which fields are affected by this transformation.

I now also see that Mantis translates a < followed by a lower case i
followed by a > as a request to shift to italic font.

Is there a way to disable HTML translations of input text?

1) turned off HTML altogether.

2) the "tags" that will expand to a bug ID number are now:

  'bugid:' (no quotes) with a number after the colon expands to a bug ID
link
  'bugnote:' (no quotes) with a number following the colon expands to a
particular note.
