Defect report from : Andrew Josey , The Open Group
(Please direct followup comments direct to yyyyyyyyyyyyyy@xxxxxxxxxxxxx)
@ page 294 line 9523 section errno objection {errno.iso.c.7.5}
Problem:
Edition of Specification (Year): 2003
Defect code : 1. Error
The errno man page misses some important information from the ISO C standard.
This can lead to a misinterpretation of the requirements of when to set errno.
Since this standard defers to ISO C we should add clarification text in the
next TC.
Action:
Add to end of paragraph 2
"The value of errno may be set to non-zero by a function call whether or not
there is an error, provided the use of errno is not documented for the function
in IEEE Std 1003.1-2001"
