In implementations that use Message Queues to control the behavior of system processes, or use them as a means of fulfilling status queries to a monitoring application, details of which messages are used I feel do need to be documented.

As an example, a system implemented to use a system process to manage the time-slicing of application processes may use a queue to accept application requests to raise or lower their execution priority, with a grant or deny notification being passed back using another Queue. At the least, such implementations' PCDs should indicate which header files have been added or modified to describe these details.

Once again,
Mark

@ page 88 line 2801 section 3.385_System_Process objection {impldef}

Problem:

Edition of Specification (Year): 2003

Defect code :  1. Error

The text says that this is "an implementation-defined object".
Use of this term requires the PCD to document the characteristics
of the object, yet there is no benefit to portable applications to
know that information.

Action:

Change "implementation-defined" to "unspecified"
