Digital Transformation is adding huge volume and variety of data in the organization’s eco system. Moreover, the emerging needs of Business demands information in more diverse ways. This is forcing the Enterprise Architects to enhance the Decision Support System and relook at enterprise integration strategy to cater to these newer challenges of Information Management. Traditionally, Business Intelligence (BI) has been a key method for making this data available and Data Warehouse (DW) forms the basis to meet organizations information and analytical needs. However, in the era of Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data and Cloud, companies have huge volumes of unstructured data which they cannot afford to physically integrate and ‘warehouse’ all the data. Enterprise Architects have to enrich the Data Integration portfolio of organization with newer approaches of Data Management that can help in fully leveraging internal and extended enterprise information, and delivers superior insights to decision makers.

The aim of this presentation is to analyze needs of new age Information Management and how data virtualization can enhance traditional BI/DW architecture and provide organizations with the timely information required to meet today’s ever-changing and evolving business requirements. Data virtualization offers a viable option to augment the traditional data integration architectures and over the time has emerged to be an important prerequisite for achieving the next-generation BI system.
