09:00- 17:30 Semantic Interoperability Working Group Meeting
The use of controlled vocabularies is emerging as a key technique in enterprise architecture. This meeting of The Open Group's Semantic Interoperability Working Group will explore the role of controlled vocabularies and the use of the Universal Data Element Framework (UDEF) to support them. Its objective is to agree on the overall principles for the use of controlled vocabularies, and on the charter for a project to define the extensions to the UDEF that will be needed to support the linked enterprise and industry vocabularies that are expected to emerge over the next five years.

The discussions will consider example domains in areas such as Aerospace, Military, Medical, Automotive and Insurance, as well as enterprise specific private extensions.

  • Welcome and Introduction. Arnold van Overeem, Capgemini, Meeting Chair. (09:00-09:30)
  • The role of controlled vocabularies. Discussion introduced by Chris Harding, The Open Group Forum Director for Semantic Imteroperability. (09:30-10:30)
  • The Use of the UDEF to support controlled vocabularies. Discussion introduced by Ron Schuld, Lockheed Martin, UDEF Project Chair. (11:00-11:45)
  • Linked vocabularies and UDEF Registry Switching. Discussion led by Arnold van Overeem. (11:45-12:30)
