(presentation in Norwegian) | Enterprise Architecture improves interaction with the business Monica K. Dahl – Enterprise Architect, Norwegian Public Roads Administration![]() Enterprise Architecture improves interaction with the businessMonica K. Dahl – Enterprise Architect, Norwegian Public Roads Administration By using EA we have improved our interaction with the business and the planning of new IT projects is now done with EA as one of the key criteria. The NPRA has in the last three years reorganized the ICT department and is currently establishing both portfolio management and EA as part of the strategic IT governance. The business architecture is being modeled in UML and the information ownership is being defined. The systems are both described AS IS and there are initiatives on-going to describe TO BE architectures for the different business processes. Using a methodology with templates for describing the business and building an architecture repository has made it easier to interact with the business and to work together in the ICT department. This presentation will tell what challenges we have had, and what we did to manage them. Key takeaways
Monika Dahl has a Masters degree in Computer Science from the University. She has worked in IT for over 20 years, first as a developer, then as a project manager and architect. Having worked in both the public and the private sectors, she now works in the Roads Administration as a business architect. (presentation in Norwegian) |

As a firm with considerable business architecture and transformation experience, Ernst & Young deploys multi-discplinary teams of functional and technical experts and uses a number of approaches, anchored on TOGAF®, to address these issues. This is necessary to get a handle on the complexity inherent to today's business environment so that stakeholders are aligned and remain actively engaged, past investments in both processes and systems can be maximized, and transformation programs are set up for success and can be driven with sustained momentum. Business executives in charge of transformations, business leaders looking to start transformation, strategy or planning professionals seeking new ways to improve estimate accuracy, transformation professionals looking for different ways to engage stakeholders, architects looking for different ways to use architecture.
