Leading the development of certification standards for Business Architects

The Open Group Governing Board Business Work Group was formed in 2010 to more clearly define the role of a Business Architect, and to create a methodology and certification program for Business Architects. The Open Group Platinum Member organizations originally involved in the Forum were Capgemini, IBM, SAP, HP and Oracle.

The mission of the Business Work Group is to create a common understanding among buyers, employers and practitioners — based on industry knowledge, open standards, models and frameworks — of how Business Architecture can provide an organization with meaningful information to ensure that transformations consistently meet business objectives and drive business value.

The objectives of the Business Work Group are to develop and evolve:

• The definition of the role of a Business Architect
• A methodology for "doing" Business Architecture
• A Business Architect certification program with consistent standards for validating a candidate’s skills, industry knowledge and applied experience
• Relationships with complimentary industry and standards bodies

The Work Group has regular conference calls and webinars, and meets face-to-face at The Open Group conference member meetings. In addition to influencing certification standards, members network with a world-class community of peers, have early access to relevant information and enhance their credibility in the industry.

The Business Work Group is currently for Platinum members only, but may be opened to a wider membership in the future. Join us, and take an active role in the direction and effectiveness of the Business Work Group.
