The Open Group Trusted Technology Forum (OTTF)

Objective of Meeting

The objective of the Wednesday member meeting sessions was to continue and conclude the discussions from the Tuesday sessions, where work had begun on the following forum activities:

  • Potential to submit the Open Trusted Technology Provider™ Standard (O-TTPS) to ISO for consideration as a Publically Available Specification (PAS)
  • Next version of O-TTPS – what’s after 1.1?

Summary

Potential to submit the Open Trusted Technology Provider™ Standard (O-TTPS) to ISO for consideration as a Publically Available Specification (PAS):

The OTTF is considering submitting the O-TTPS – as a PAS submission to ISO provided the submission is approved by the Director of Standards, the VP responsible for the Forum, the Executive Management team, and the Governing Board. If that all transpires it can be submitted to ISO for consideration – then the submission will need to go through ISO review cycles before they approve it as a PAS submission

A completed DRAFT Submission Form was circulated to the O-TTPS Steering Committee prior to Amsterdam – this session began an interactive review of that draft. The review session began on Tuesday and continued on Wednesday.

Next version of O-TTPS – what’s after 1.1?

We began this discussion Tuesday – it carried over into Wednesday – resulting in a draft proposal for consideration on the approach we might take to 2.0.

Leading up to Amsterdam, the Forum conducted several brainstorming sessions on what the scope of 2.0 should include. The results of those brainstorming sessions were circulated prior to the Amsterdam meeting. Wednesday’s session focused on the scope of 2.0 from a profiling perspective and discussing at length whether it made sense to tailor the standard and/or the accreditation requirements for the various constituents.

Outputs

Outputs are described in the descriptions above.

Next Steps

The updated PAS Submission Form will be distributed to the SC. It will also be sent to the Director of Standards. He will provide the final draft to The Open Group ISO mentor who will provide additional input before it goes through all of The Open Group approvals as mentioned above.

The Draft Proposal for an approach to 2.0 will be distributed to the SC and the Framework Workstream for further discussion over the next several weeks. We will also be seeking customer input specifically.
