Building a TOGAF® Metamodel Extension for Security and Risk Management

Bill Estrem, President, Metaplexity Associates, US

This presentation builds on previous presentations about the TOGAF Metamodel and Risk Management.  It will demonstrate a method for modeling Key Risk Indicators that can be used to determine where threats are likely to have an impact on the enterprise. The proposed Security extension will provide the alignment of security requirements against core Metamodel concepts.

This presentation will include examples using the recently published ArchiMate Risk Management Extension. In addition this presentation will show how Key Risk Indicators for the TOGAF Risk Management method and the ArchiMate Risk Management Extension can then be analyzed using the OpenFAIR risk analysis standard to mitigate vulnerabilities.

Key takeaways:

  • Incorporating Security and Risk into Enterprise Architecture planning
  • Developing custom TOGAF metamodel extensions
  • Defining new viewpoints for analyzing risk
